If you haven’t been to the Wynoochee Dam since Aberdeen sold the power rights to Tacoma City Light you may not know that all information about Joe, his donation of the rights to Aberdeen & major contribution to the development of the Dam are gone. “Cousin” Richard Hovde has taken on the Tacoma City Light “powers that be” to try to reinstate that historical information. Here is a copy of his note:

I’m inquiring about the missing photo of Joe Malinowski at the Wynoochee Dam Overlook. There is whole lot of photos of your new power generating turbines and such but there is no longer any of the history behind this dam. Can you tell me why the City of Tacoma has decided to forego posting the history of how this dam came into being? I’m especially interested in the man that made it all happen, Joe Malinowski. Sincerely, Richard Hovde
It might bolster his query if some of the rest of the clan echoed his concern the the email he used. I know he sent this to a few of you but I thought I’d catch the rest.
Here’s some history if you don’t know –

Although it was worth a lot of money, Joe gave his power rights to the City of Aberdeen for $1. On the condition they build a dam — well he lived to see the water dam go in but not the power he advocated. The later the City sold the power rights luckily he didn’t live to see that but his legacy should not be forgotten.
